Surahs

Many short Surahs in the Qur’an are easy to memorize and full of beautiful meanings. These Surahs help us understand Allah’s power, mercy, and guidance.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
🕊 “The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it to others.” (Sahih Bukhari)

So, let’s learn some short Surahs that we can recite in our prayers!

Did you know that after Surah Al-Fatiha, we recite another Surah in Salah?

1. Surah Al-Ikhlas (The Purity) – 4 Verses

📖 Arabic:
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ • اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ • لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ • وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

📖 English Translation:
“Say, He is Allah, the One. Allah is Eternal. He does not give birth, nor was He born. And there is nothing like Him.” (Surah Al-Ikhlas 112:1-4)

✨ Why is this Surah Special?
✅ It tells us that Allah is One and has no partners.
✅ The Prophet (peace be upon him) said reciting this Surah is equal to reading one-third of the Qur’an! (Sahih Bukhari)

2. Surah Al-Falaq (The Daybreak) – 5 Verses

📖 Arabic:
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ • مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ • وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ • وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ • وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

📖 English Translation:
“Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of the Daybreak, from the evil of what He created, and from the darkness when it spreads, and from the evil of those who blow on knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies.” (Surah Al-Falaq 113:1-5)

✨ Why is this Surah Important?
✅ It protects us from evil, jealousy, and harm.
✅ The Prophet (peace be upon him) read this Surah every morning and night for protection.

3. Surah An-Nas (The Mankind) – 6 Verses

📖 Arabic:
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ • مَلِكِ النَّاسِ • إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ • مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ • الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ • مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ

📖 English Translation:
“Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, who whispers in the hearts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.” (Surah An-Nas 114:1-6)

✨ Why is this Surah Powerful?
✅ It protects us from Shaytan (the devil) and bad thoughts.
✅ It reminds us that only Allah is our true protector.

4. Surah Al-Kawthar (The Abundance) – 3 Verses

📖 Arabic:
إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ • فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ • إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ

📖 English Translation:
“Indeed, We have granted you (O Muhammad) Al-Kawthar. So, pray to your Lord and sacrifice. Indeed, your enemy is cut off.” (Surah Al-Kawthar 108:1-3)

✨ Why is this Surah Special?
✅ It is the shortest Surah in the Qur’an (only 3 verses)!
✅ It reminds us to thank Allah and pray.

Why Should We Memorize These Four Surahs?

✅ Easy to learn – Short and simple verses!
✅ Great for Salah – We can recite them in every prayer.
✅ Full of blessings – Each Surah brings protection and rewards.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Read the last three Surahs (Ikhlas, Falaq, Nas) every night, and they will protect you.” (Tirmidhi)
